GetHuman-jonjon:My husband and I owned the property we tried to turn on electric for, for over ** years. It is a summer rental. We turned off electric in May, got a final bill. We tried to turn on electric in Sept and were told they had left the electric on for the summer tenant but never got their name or information and if we did not supply them with the summer lease and Certificate of Occupancy, they weren't turning on our electric. Or we could pay the bill! We gave them the realtor's name and number, who rented the place, but were told after an investigation they would let us know if they would turn on the electric. We are going to the house this Tuesday and if the electric is not on, we will rent a hotel room and stay until there is electric in the home. We will sue them for the cost of the hotel room and ask the judge for punitive damages as we will not be able to clean or do the laundry in our beach house. They really think they can hold us liable for one of their employees errors. I will also be writing to consumer affairs as I think this company and it's employees are out of control.
