~tenbiking:We were scheduled to fly on Saturday, Feb. **th Newark and then to Fort Myers Florida. The flight was canceled. We were told there were no flights out until Monday Feb.**th. *We were re booked on a flight through Chicago, not our original flight.**We went on line and found United was selling seats for $****. We called and inquired about obtaining one of these seats and were told that's not how airlines work. If we wanted to pay an exorbitant rate, they would sell us a ticket and then offer alternative passengers a "free fare" and keep the difference. They would not book us on the flight. As it turns out, our second flight was also canceled. Once again, we identified flights on Jet Blue that would allow us to make our planned trip. United indicated that they do not have arrangements with Delta, Southwest or Jet Blue and that they could not offer us a flight on those airlines. **We ultimately had to cancel our hotel, car and trip as a result of United's poor service and re booking pol
