~havajsky:If an adult uses miles and pays for a child (* expensive), aa site won't allow you to book the child, as there is no "accompanying adult", so you have to call AAdvantage to arrange for that and that costs $**. The supervisor will waive the charge, but you have to know it and ask for it. What a scam! I tried to book * flight on miles, their site would charge me too many miles, I had to call * times till I got a knowledgable agent and then got the correct * of miles! Their site is an abomination... Just keep calling aadvantage till you get a good agent, make them to find the right flights, hang up and then try to book yourself online. If that won't work, call again, ask for supervisor, explain your woes and get the $** canceled. If you book within ** days, it's *$** (small print). Book miles months ahead and*or be very flexible, They make only very few seats available for "AASaver" to get your miles (and these go fast). What a disservice to the AA brand!
