The way they handle emergency situations is by putting people through automated system telling them that their days without electricity (read: food, water) is extended for another day or two. When hurricane Katrina hit * years ago I was one of the emergency response contacts for customers affected by the hurricane. We actually talked to people and gave them the information they needed to. PPL however choose an easier way to handle the emergency situation.
