I was trying to transfer E-ZPass account from my husband (deceased) to myself and was told that was not possible, that I needed to close my old account by mailing in the tags and then open a new account. When I called back the second rep confirmed a transfer was not possible but found a way to open the new account before I officially close the old account* he canceled the tags out of the system. This was very helpful. Don't know whether the first rep wasn't aware of this process or couldn't be bothered.
