I spent many, many frustrating hours on the problem -- and no one at Avast could offer a solution that would work. One rep. suggested that I spend $***.** for a Certified Technician. Some tried hard to help, but others were worst than useless -- they would provide invalid information and advice. One said that formatting a disk would not remove all the files. Another said that the **-bit version of Windows XP certainly has an SP* (it doesn't). Avast provided me with good communications by untrained and incompetent individuals. **I am afraid the future will not be bright for Avast unless there is a major improvement in customer service.**I uninstalled Avast through the Control Panel * Add*Remove Programs and still found about ** Avast Keys in the Registry that I manually deleted. About * Avast directories were also left
