~ANGRYCONSUMER:As a disabled veteran I am on a very limited income. Ameren does not make allowances for disabilities. They overcharge for service, shut it off leaving people suffering in heat or cold and demand exhorbitant amounts of money to have it turned back on. When you start service you have to pay a 'deposit' which they will not use until you agree to turn service off. So you can't pay arrears bills with it - probably because they are collecting interest on that money and don't want to give it back. Ameren is a monopoly - there is no other service available to customers in this area and they have us all over a barrel with their price gouging and nasty tactics.**This company should be broken up into little bitty pieces and made into co-op owned BY THE PEOPLE WHO'VE PAID FOR THE PLANT TO BE BUILT!**CORPORATE GREED WINS OUT OVER THE LITTLE HARD WORKING GUY EVERY TIME!
